4.7 l v8 toyota
The 4.6 with this 6 speed trans is still a hell of a lot faster than the 4.7 was. It only got 1 mpg better than the 5.7 which was a little lame. Towing was fine. I pulled 6000 and 6500 lb trailers a few times for long distance without any hesitation. My only gripe with the 4.6 was the 4.10 gears.Additionally, I looked at the book labor for a 4wd v8 to change out the motor, it came back at 79 hours!!!! Thats $8000 dollars in labor!! So, I decided to fix the engine in the truck myself by removing the heads and the oil pan and pulling out the bad piston rod from the bottom, installing a new rod and oil squirter and having the heads redone.
