Here are the steps: Download "Protontricks" from the build-in Discover Store. Launch "Protontricks" from the Start menu. Select "The Sims 4" and click OK. Wait a minute or two and you'll see a new window open. Click OK on the 64-bit/32-bit warning message. Select "Select the default wineprefix" and click on OK.After trying all the different suggested steps, what finally got it working for me was to copy the entire Sims 4 folder somewhere else.
