D rated tires vs e rated
I’m running E rated 33s at 35 psi cold. I find they ride smoother and quieter than the stock Bridgestone Duellers. I’m not experiencing a harsh or uncomfortable ride at all. Posts: 17,417. If trailer came with a LR-C tire it was probably rated for the load the trailer was designed for with the mandatory safety margin. Upgrading to a LR-D tire in the size mentioned will increase the capacity by 15 percent over the OE design (+the built in margin of safety).

Actually the rating for a D tire and an E tire is exactly the same at 65 psi within this group of tires. And both D & E are exactly the same as a C when all are at 50 psi. The chart covers them all. E rated tires are super heavy and don't give that much more benefits over rougher ride. E rated tires are for 2500/3500/HD pickup trucks with their huge diesels pushing out 1k ft tq towing 10 tons. i went from 31 inch E tires on my 75 to 36 inch Es and the ride is soooooo much better. the smaller tire will ride stiffer no matter what because theres less sidewall. thats if you were comparing E tires. going to a smaller tire with the same load rating is going to stiffen your ride, it just depends on how much by the brand and other factors.So the D rating would be ok to use on our light pickups if the tire is larger, in general.
