From what I understand this is a BSA made No.4 Mk1 Lee Enfield made 1943. The FTR marking means it has been factory through reconditioned. The markings on the muzzle means it was British Nitro Proofed and sold into the civilian market. Does this mean it was sold to civilians in Europe ONLY?In the No4 Mk1 it was a spring loaded catch towards the rear of the righ side rail in which the bolt head rode. The spring loaded catch was replaced by a simpler gap in the rail about 1/2" back from the breechface in the Mk1*.
