Freightliner cruise control not working
1995 Freightliner with a Detroit series 60. Intermittently losing Cruise control and engine brakes ( always both together). Driving down road and cruise will cut out, not related to bumps or pedals. Will randomly start working again, sometimes works for months at a time. Have replaced speed sensor, and inspected wiring.Jun 12, 2019 · Take the vehicle for a road test and check Cruise Control operation. Fixing the cruise control on a freightliner century class 1997? ... cruise control not working,u need to check the fuses also check the clutch safety switch as this also has to do with cruise control.Here are a few things to check. 1. Clutch Switch - is the clutch switch actually working properly. You can check it with a multi-meter to see that it is indeed opening and closing contacts. Is it in adjustment with clutch pedal. 2. Service brake air switch - located under the dash in the center on an air manifold.Press and release the “SET” button once you’ve reached the desired speed to maintain. Be sure not to press too long or improperly, the cruise control will not set. To increase Cruise Control set speed, press and hold “RES” to accelerate the truck. Also let me now if the engine brake is also affected. using the Detroit software to check the switch status is the easiest wat to test the circuit but you can use a volt OHM meter but will take a bit longer.When I start up the engine and drive, there is a 5% chance the cruise control won’t work. What I do is leave the cruise control on and try to set it after about one hour. It usually works then. Sometimes I need to wait longer. Once it works, it will work all the time until I shut off the engine.…
