Feb 2, 2010. #1. I've read the forum and there are several long threads describing conversions of a pre-80 to a 5 speed H55F requiring significant changes. But most of the changes are related to transfer case and emergency brake changes. I have an 81 FJ40, split transfer case and a 4 speed to the 2F. Does anyone know if the H55F is an easy ...OEM H55F 5-Speed Transmission Assembly. Fits 1/1990 HZJ7x Land Cruiser and non-US models. Does not include shift lever or knob. THESE UNITS SHIP WITHOUT OIL. OIL NEEDS TO BE ADDED BEFORE USE.

Lower first gear than a h55f also makes it a plus offroad. And I believe the overdrive is more with a NV which would be real helpful with a low reving diesel, numbers are cloudy in my head this morning. Also, the clutch will take stock parts which are easy to get anywhere.
