I read with interest about the heater core problems as mine is driving me crazy. When I put the heater blower on, it does blow hot air for 5 to 10 seconds, then it turns icy cold and never warms up.The heater is blowing cold, then hot, then cold, then hot air intermittently. It was the heater control valve inside the engine bay on the passenger side of the firewall. If you've been running your truck for a while, and check either side of the valve, both hoses on either side of the valve should be hot. If not, you've found your problem.
