Honda crv whining noise in reverse
Heard whistle/high pitched/whine noise recently. The noise is very noticeable while driving 10-15 MPH. The same noise is much less noticeable above this MPH range. It is especially louder when the driver let go of gas pedal at 10-15MPH and probably in 1st/2nd gear.. May be the input shaft bearing in your trans. If so it will make the sound when the clutch is out with the motor running in neutral or anytime the trans is spinning but will stop if the car is stopped and the clutch is in. Sound may vary from a ticking to a whining sound.

I believe the noise is emitted from the rear differentials and this is a common problem for CRV. Replacing the rear differential fluids would solve the problem. I have a 2006 Japanese model. When I'm accelerating between roughly 25-35 mph I get this whining noise. Once I reach roughly 35 mph it seems to stop or if I stop accelerating it stops.
