So I am currently painting a valve cover, the lettering to be black and the rest to be a navy blue. ...Place the valve cover in a well-ventilated area on some newspaper or a piece of cardboard. Put on protective gloves and goggles. Wipe paint stripper on the valve cover with paper towels or a scrub brush. Apply liberal amounts of the paint stripper to make sure all of the existing paint is removed. 3.Allow it to dry for 1-2 hours after all the coats have been applied. 3) Once it has dried apply a thin layer of a color of your choice on the valve cover. leave the spray head 5-7 inched from the VC to ensure a nice smooth, even coat of paint. After allowing it to dry, apply another coat doing the same process.
