This guide rod kit is made for the Springfield Prodigy 4.25". This kit uses a 1/4" diameter guide rod, flat wire ISMI spring, and our fully machined reverse plug. In independent testing, ISMI spring have endured in excess of 100,000 compression cycles. We don’t recommend going that long between changes however.Customizing a pistol like the Springfield Armory XD allows a shooter to make it unique and improve his or her performance. In a past article and video, we upgraded the basic Springfield Armory XD-9 pistol with Springer Precision custom parts. On the first pistol we added the following: XD Trigger Kit. Striker. Extractor. This is my experience with the Prodigy. I picked one up about a month after release. By this time there were already reports of the issues that the Prodigy is now synonymous with but I was still impressed from what I had seen at this point that I figured it was worth the risk. This would be my first foray into the 1911/2011 world.This ignition kit is a great upgrade for the Springfield Prodigy.
