Nov 25, 2005 · This post will come in 'handy' in other forums here at IWSTI. I collected a lot of part throttle data with the LC-1 Wideband vs. the Stock O2 Sensor AFR (I also graphed boost). The X-Axis is time. The left Y-Axis is AFR. The right Y-Axis is Boost (psi). 17 graphs in this directory that clearly illustrate how inaccurate the stock O2 sensor is.

So my car has been down for a year and trying to start it but the O2 sensor isn't heating up. I don't have a stock O2 cause I'm using the Aem to simulate a narrowband. I've tried 2 different Bosch sensors but neither is warming up. Not sure if there's an issue with the wiring so I wanna wire it to where the rear O2 use to be.Unheated narrowband o2 sensors are generally 1 wire or 2 wire sensors, while heated narrowband o2 sensors are 3 or 4 wire. Wideband sensors are always heated and are 5 wires or more, at least in my experience, so by simply counting the number of wires going to your o2 sensor, you may be able to get an idea of what kind of sensor your car requires.Watch on. Whether it's narrowband O2s or a wideband O2, proper O2 sensor placement is critical to the operation and tuning of an engine. In this Tech Tuesday, Steve Morgan gives a few tips to making sure your O2 sensors are as effective as possible, so your engine and your tune will be too. Tags: Oxygen Sensors. Performance Parts.

The pre-cat sensors in our cars are wide-band, and output approximately 1.5 V at lambda = 1. If ...Looking for help answering a few questions regarding monitoring real-time AFR measurements. I understand our S197s come with Narrow-band O2 sensors, and I’ve read it is difficult for narrow-band sensors to accurately measure AFR (especially at WOT): 1) Can data-loggers (such as the MSD Dashhawk or SCT Livewire) measure AFR …Sep 6, 2018 · There are two types of wideband oxygen sensor designs: dual-cell and single-cell. A single-cell O2 sensor looks similar to a narrowband 4-wire sensor, but they can be either a planar design or cup-style. The four wires designate two for the heater and two for the signal and operate at 0.4 volts for the sensor.Dec 16, 2008 · In the '06 service manual, section EC, page 288 it states that the heated O2 sensor (narrowband, loacted after the cat): QUOTE. "Even if switching characteristics of the [wideband] air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 are shifted, the air-fuel ratio is controlled to stoichiometic, by the signal from the [narrowband] heated oxygen sensor 2."

Bottom line: only use a wideband for WOT tuning. 2) Changing these O2 sensor feedback settings won't do anything to adjust open-loop fueling. WOT/power enrichment fueling occurs in open loop in a system with narrowband O2 sensors, not closed loop.Dec 27, 2012 · The standard (narrow band) O2 sensor can tell the ECU if the motor is rich or lean. The wideband can tell how much it is rich or lean and therefore make it possible to keep the engine at near perfect stoichiometric. Narrow band varies from rich to lean and hopefully averages out to stoichiometric.Wideband sensors are a different ball game from the narrow band Zirconia. Fuel control is much tighter and is proportional rather than bang-bang rich to lean "switching". The snap throttle test is the simplest, if the output from the wide band sensor goes rich instantly and recovers quickly and smoothly when the pedal is released and fuel trims ...…

The opposite would be true if the sensor was telling the ECU that it was currently running lean, it would richen the fuel map till the o2 sensor was reading stoic. A

Stoich is the ration to completely combust the fuel. So a narrowband will only read rich or lean. It does not tell you how far away you are from Stoich. A wideband O2 is designed to read a board range of air fuel ratios. Some widebands will read from 10:1 up to 20:1.
